Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner heads for season finale at Valencia – MotoGP news

Repsol Honda rider Casey Stoner is ready to participate in the final round of the MotoGP season.

The 18th event of the season, the Valencia GP will take place on November 6, 2011.

The 2011 MotoGP World Champion feels that it will be hard to get back to racing with hard memories of death of Marco Simoncelli. His loss is still remembered by the MotoGP family.

Stoner said, “It will be difficult to return to racing this weekend after Marco's terrible accident in Sepang but I think it is the best thing we can do to honour him.”

However, he will be remembered during the race. The Aussie rider also said that to conduct the full race weekend is the best way to honour Simoncelli.

Super Sic died in crash at Sepang during the Malaysian Grand Prix. He sustained several injuries on head, neck and ribs, which led him to a cardiac arrest.

The 2011 World Champion added, “We know we all play a risky game and, even if compared to the past the safety of our sport is much better, unfortunately these kinds of events still occur. My thoughts go out to his family and I hope that they are coping through this period.”

While commenting on his team’s effort during the season, he said that the season has been a strong run. The chase for the title ended up at Phillip Island and the team started to focus on the 2012 season.

Following the race day there will be a two-day post-race test session. During the session, 1000cc machines will be tested for further improvements.

There was also a post race scheduled after the Malaysian GP, but due to the cancellation of the race, the following schedule was terminated.

After the final race and two days of testing, the teams will take a long inter-season break. During the break, the teams will focus to re-asses their performance in the 2011 season.

For Valencia, Repsol Honda team aims to give its best performance to pay tribute to his fellow Honda rider Simoncelli.

Super Sic was also a factory Honda rider signed by HRC. He was the only rider to race with a factory setup via satellite team, San Carlo Honda Gresini.
